AI agents for DeFi: what Notify and Prepare agents do
A Signo AI agent watches one condition in your DeFi wallet, such as a loan's health factor or a token price. When the condition becomes true, a Notify agent sends you a Telegram alert, once Telegram is linked. A Prepare agent also builds the transaction for you to review and sign. Neither of them moves your funds.
Most DeFi positions do not need attention every day. They need it on the one day something changes: a loan gets close to liquidation, a liquidity range stops earning, a fixed-rate position reaches maturity. A Signo agent watches for that day so you do not have to.
Signo also has Execute agents, in early access, that act on their own within onchain limits you sign. This article covers the two modes that never move your funds: Notify and Prepare.
What is an AI agent for DeFi?
In Signo, an agent is two things: a condition (what to watch) and an action (what happens when the condition is met). You write the condition in plain words, for example "my Aave health factor drops below 1.5". The agent then checks it against your wallet on a schedule. Depending on what it watches, that is from about every 5 minutes to once a day. See how often agents check.
The AI turns your sentence into a check it can run and explains what it found. The check itself is plain data: your positions, prices and rates, read from the protocols and data providers.
What a Notify agent does
A Notify agent tells you when its condition becomes true. If Telegram is linked, you get a message there. An agent normally alerts once while a single condition stays true, so it does not message you again at every check. An agent that watches a set, such as "any of my positions", can alert again when a new position starts to match.
Things people watch with Notify agents:
- A loan's health factor on Aave getting close to liquidation.
- A token crossing a price you set.
- Plain stablecoins sitting in your wallet, earning no yield.
- A Uniswap liquidity position drifting out of its price range.
- A Pendle fixed-rate position getting close to maturity.
What a Prepare agent does
A Prepare agent goes one step further. When the condition is met, it builds the transaction for you from your wallet's balances at that moment, for example "repay 500 USDC on Aave", and sends you a message with one button: Review and sign.
The button opens the plan in Signo. You see each step, what you spend and what you receive. If it looks right, you sign in your own wallet. If not, you change it or ignore it. Nothing moves until you sign.
Example: a loan close to liquidation
You have a loan on Aave and a Prepare agent with an alert line at a health factor of 1.5.
- At one check, the health factor is 1.62. That is above the line, so nothing happens.
- At a later check, it is 1.48. The condition is now true.
- You get a Telegram alert: "Health factor is 1.48".
- The alert comes with a plan to repay 500 USDC on Aave. The plan is not signed. You tap Review and sign, check each step, and sign in your own wallet if it looks right.
A Notify agent stops at step 3. The numbers are an example.
Notify or Prepare: which one fits?
| Notify | Prepare | |
|---|---|---|
| When the condition is met | You get a message | You get a message and a ready transaction |
| What you do next | Decide, then act in Signo or any app | Review the steps and sign |
| Good for | Prices, idle funds, anything you want to think about | Actions you already know you will take, like repaying a loan |
| Moves funds by itself | No | No, you sign every transaction |
How to set one up
Open Agents, then New agent, and pick a card, or describe what you want in Chat. Connect Telegram once on the Agents page so the messages reach your phone.
Try this in Chat:
Tell me when my Aave health factor drops below 1.5How often do DeFi agents check?
Signo agents check on a schedule, not every second. Price agents check hourly. Yield and health-factor alerts check about every 5 minutes. Custom conditions, anything else you describe in plain English, check hourly or daily, as you pick. Schedules run at the time you set.
A very fast move can happen between two checks. If a data source cannot be read, Signo does not guess. After three failed checks in a row, the agent shows as Degraded on the Agents page, and it recovers by itself when the data can be read again.
Can a Notify or Prepare agent move funds?
No. Notify and Prepare agents never move your funds. A Notify agent only sends a message. A Prepare agent builds a transaction. You decide whether to sign it, in your own wallet.
Markets move after the message. A prepared transaction uses the balances and quotes available when Signo detects the condition and builds the plan. Review it before you sign.
